Tales & Scales Workshops Through our collaborative artistic process, T&S constantly experiences that the arts are vital not only to the quality of our lives, but to the actual learning process throughout our lives. The arts are the glue that holds humanity together, giving voice to emotion and idea. Experience and understanding of the arts fosters the ability to form connections between emotions, ideas and people, helping us to communicate and express those connections in an effective way. This ability serves everyone in the areas of community, teamwork and creative problem-solving, making us creative members of society. Tales & Scales uses three elements in its workshops to build connections: story, music and creative movement. Our workshop designs are tailored to go hand in hand with the T&S performance experience and are customized to fit your particular needs. Student Workshops T&S brings the creative process alive for students through interactive workshops given in the classroom. During the workshop session, students will actively explore the relationship of story, creative movement and music under the guidance of a Tales & Scales artist. These elements will be combined at the end of the workshop session in a short performance. Each of the four T&S artists can accommodate up to 25 students during one workshop session. More in-depth explorations of storytelling, theatre, music and movement are available as one-session workshops as well. Tales & Scales offers workshops for grade levels K-12. Educator Workshops Students learn in a variety of ways and research today suggests that a multi-disciplinary, multiple intelligences approach is perhaps the most successful in teaching. T&S' approach in combining several art forms speaks directly to engaging students through the many different ways they learn, focusing on the aural, visual and kinesthetic senses. T&S artists will lead educators through games, lessons and activities that are designed to help students build skills in the areas of teamwork, communication, problem-solving, linear and non-linear thinking and public speaking. Musician Workshops T&S can be an effective resource for musicians to become arts advocates in their communities through the schools, corporations and individuals in their areas. By exploring the role of the artist in communities large and small, T&S can help musicians better communicate with young audiences both inside and outside the concert hall. T&S artists will share their collaborative process that focuses on the connections between music, movement, story and theatre. These elements are essential in creating a T&S production and will aid other musicians in developing their own high-impact outreach programs. This workshop will help musicians target their audience and become a more effective artistic presence in their community through an in-depth exploration of how the artist can impact the community.
